Sascha Kindred and Nyree Lewis, otherwise known as the 'golden couple' of disabled sport, are two of Great Britain's most successful paralympians of the last decade, amassing 20 Paralympic medals between them including an amazing 8 golds. DSE Short Course Swimming Championships

This weekend saw Nyree and Sascha take to the pool at the DSE Short Course Swimming Championships in Swansea, Wales.

Both were swimming in various events including a swim in the 100m Backstroke for Sascha, not one of his usual events. But never-the-less, Sascha didn't fail to dissapoint by breaking the British record!

For Nyree, it was also a record breaking weekend as she took the 400 freestyle race in a new European time.

Sascha & Nyree Win Top Award

Following yesterday's BBC Midlands Sports Awards 2007, I'm delighted to announce that Sascha and Nyree jointly won the 'Disabled Sports Person of the Year'. It is the first time in the history of the awards that two people have won an award jointly, but makes perfect sense seeing as one could not achieve so much without the other. So well done to them both for achieving so much following a year which saw no major championships but both Sascha and Nyree set new records in many of their events.
